The Northeastern Woodworkers Association held its 29th annual fine woodworking exhibition, the 2022 Woodworker’s Showcase, Mar. 26-27 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

The event featured hundreds of pieces of furniture, carvings, turnings, musical instruments and more by amateur and professional woodworkers. It also included a competition with awards, a special themed display, exhibits by guest organizations, presentations, demonstrations, and work for sale.

The next Woodworker’s Showcase is scheduled for Mar. 25-26, 2023.

WantedDesign Fair

Students from the furniture design department at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, R.I., had their work featured in Embodied & Imbued, an exhibition at the WantedDesign Fair, held at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City from May 15–17 in conjunction with the International Contemporary Furniture Fair.

Participating students included Bill Carroll, Grace Elwood, Jan Rybczynski, Amelia Greteman, Madeleine Young, Spenser Atlas, Theju Nimmagadda, Sam Northcut, Anna Dawson, Louise Ferlet, Isabel Yang and Aydan Huseynli.

Furniture Design students Anna Dawson, Shannon Jones and Maxwell Taylor Milner also showed their work in the fair’s Launchpad site for individual designers, and RISD senior Sam Northcut was selected to appear in the Emerging Designers Showcase.
