Workshop set on new business strategies

The Wood Education and Resource Center in Princeton, W. Va., will host a one-day workshop on Nov. 8 aimed at supporting small businesses that produce cabinets, furniture and millwork wood products to discuss new and profitable business strategies that can support efforts that will grow sales.

There will be cutting-edge ideas offered in the business areas of marketing, finance, production, equipment, factory layout, product design, employee relations and purchasing, according to program director Harry Watt.

The workshop will seek to present the latest ideas that can help wood products manufacturers make products in the U.S. using domestic lumber and plywood and keep U.S. manufacturers competitive with global competitors. The workshop will be supported by a workshop notebook that includes printed materials covered in the discussions. Also included will be discussions on changes in lumber and plywood that can offer additional business advantages.

The course is co-sponsored by the Wood Education and Resource Center, Woodshop News and North Carolina State University.
