More than 1,500 projects were submitted from 51 countries in the 2021 Felder Challenge, a contest that encourages craftspeople to submit their woodworking projects to inspire other makers.

Spain’s Henrik Tjaerby won the Felder Challenge with a woven chair project.

“It was extremely challenging to choose between the 1,500 projects submitted as the standard of all contributions was very high. We welcomed every single project and were excited to see how the community supported each other and especially how they motivated each other,” Tamara Felder, CMO of The Felder Group, an Austrian manufacturer of woodworking machinery, said in a statement.

Projects of all kinds, large or small were accepted. Fifty projects were juried to the final round based on originality, creativity, execution, technical performance, and other criteria.

Henrik Tiaerby of Spain won the contest and received a Hammer CNC portal milling machine (model HNC 47.82).

Tim Morend of Switzerland was second, winning a Felder bandsaw (FB 510), and Austria’s Johann Pascher was third, winning a Felder ForKa 200 Eco Plus manual edgebander.
