School presents online Japanese joinery class

The Florida School of Woodwork in Tampa, Fla. is holding its first virtual international woodworking class, an introduction to Japanese joinery taught by Dylan Iwakuni.

Dylan will be teaching the class from his studio in Germany. His work includes restoration of traditional houses and shrines as well as teaching in his Kyoto workshop and internationally.

Dylan will introduce students to a joint known as Jyuji Mechigai Tsugi.

Rockler’s pen turning classes to benefit veterans

Rockler Woodworking and Hardware stores nationwide will host pen turning classes to benefit veterans on Saturday, Nov. 9. Participants can turn their own pen to take home, and Rockler will donate 100 percent of the proceeds from the classes to the National Veterans Foundation.
