Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh will give the commencement address Friday to the 101 graduates of the North Bennet Street School.
This is the first time in Boston school’s 135-year history that a sitting mayor will deliver the commencement speech.
“We are so pleased Mayor Walsh is joining us for our commencement this year, as he has been a lifelong advocate for a community-focused education that teaches hand skills, preserves craft and trade traditions, and produces professionals of the highest caliber,” school president Miguel Gómez-Ibáñez said in a statement.
“He is truly a partner in craft for the school, and we welcome future initiatives with the City of Boston that further enhance lives and livelihoods through education.”
