New school schedules opening

The CU Woodshop School of Woodworking will celebrate its grand opening Sept. 22 with an open house in Champaign, Ill.

The open house will include appearances by Tim Yoder, host of the Woodturning Workshop television show; George Vondriska, managing editor for the Woodworkers Guild of America, and Donna Menke, a woodcarver and author from Texas.

The school features an 8,000-sq.-ft. facility, filled with professional-grade equipment. It is offering classes in partnership with Parkland College and will also host its own classes. Most classes will be hands-on and will be limited to six to eight students.
