The National Wood Flooring Association announced that Linden Lumber, of Linden, Ala., earned the NWFA/NOFMA mill certification.

“We welcome Linden Lumber as another partner in the NWFA/NOFMA certification program, helping to further establish the benchmark for quality hardwood products,” NWFA president and CEO Michael Martin said in a statement.

“The continued growth of NWFA/NOFMA is a positive sign for the industry, highlighting the value of this quality-verification program. In turn, the certification highlights companies, like Linden Lumber, that know the importance of providing its customers with consistent, documented quality.”

Linden Lumber entered the flooring business in 1988 with the addition of a flooring line, but has been in the lumber industry for more than 50 years. Linden Lumber produces red and white oak in Select/Btr, No. 1, No. 2 and industrial-grade flooring as well as a few niche products.

“We may not be the biggest player in the market, but our unfinished product is on par with anything sold in the market today,” company sales manager Tim Thornburgh said. “Becoming NWFA/NOFMA Certified is another way for us to show we are committed to our products, our business and our customers.”

The NWFA/NOFMA certification shows that a manufacturer’s wood flooring meets or exceeds the industry standards for grade, configuration, moisture content and average board length. Certified mills are inspected a minimum of two times per year to ensure consistent grade standards are met.
