C.R. Onsrud, a manufacturer of CNC machinery, will be in attendance at the 9th annual International Mass Timber Conference, March 25-27, in Portland, Ore.
“We’ve had ongoing talks with manufacturers in the construction industry and asked what would make their jobs easier,” said Jeff Onsrud, Director of Sales & Business Development.
The result is CNC machinery that provides high-precision processing of materials, in a wide range of shapes and sizes, that are used in the mass timber industry, such as cross-laminated timber (CLT), aluminum composites material (ACM), laminated veneer lumber (LVL), mass plywood panels (MPP), structural insulated panels (SIP), nail-laminated timber (NLT), and more, according to the company.
“Manufacturers can save a significant amount of time by performing all their machining operations in-house, including incredibly large composite panels, columns, and beams, so their end products are install-ready when they arrive on-site,” said Onsrud.
One of their machines with a vast work envelope is the High Rail. “It’s a highly customizable CNC machine,” said Onsrud. “The last one we built was substantial, with a 21′ x 26′ work envelope, over 5′ of Z-stroke, and a 42″ dedicated saw blade attached — perfect for accurate processing of incredibly large composite panels.
“We hope by attending the Mass Timber Conference we’ll connect with others in the construction industry and share solutions to the challenges they’re facing.”
