The Cabinet Makers Association has scheduled its second national conference for Mar. 4-6, 2020 in St. Charles, Ill., which will feature a keynote address by Guy Bucey, COO of the furniture manufacture Inova.
Bucey will speak about becoming an effective leader.
“At Inova, we put a lot of focus on our leadership — we want to be mentors and teachers and not just people who are telling other people what to do. The exact term we use is ‘servant’ leadership,” explains Bucey. “We’re always working to cultivate, train, and teach other employees.”
Given the year of the event, the theme of the conference will be “2020 Vision: a Clear View of the Woodworking Conference”. Educational sessions will focus on the following three sight lines, according to the CMA:
“Hindsight – looking into the rearview mirror to see where we have been; Peripheral Vision – checking the blind spot to see what’s happening around us; and Looking Ahead – shifting gears to accelerate forward.”
Plant tours are also on the agenda, including planned visits to Exclusive Woodworking in Waukegan, Ill., and Closet Works/Plus Closets and Elmhurst, Ill.
