States Industries is accepting entries for "The Art of ApplePly," a design competition for furniture, fixtures, cabinets, art, toys, puzzles and more, made principally of ApplePly.

ApplePly is a hardwood inner-ply panel, typically with a maple face and back veneers, but all domestic and many imports are available, according to Bill Powell, the company’s marketing manager.

“It uses a two-step lamination process for improved flatness and phenolic and soy resins for no added formaldehyde. ApplePly is typically FSC-certified, though distributors must specify this to receive proper documentation. It has been a flagship product for States Industries for almost 20 years. It is very popular with architects and designers and is often specified for the attractive, solid edges it provides.”

Substantial cash prizes are available in student, amateur and professional categories and anyone over 18 is eligible. Rules and entry forms are available at www.appleply.com and www.statesindustries.com.
