The National Wood
Flooring Association says recent donations to its scholarship fund were made in
recognition of Jack Coates, a founder of the trade group who died in January.

“As one of the
founding fathers of the NWFA, and as leader of one the preeminent wood flooring
distributors in the country, it is important to recognize Jack’s achievements
and to keep his name alive,” Rick Holden of Derr Flooring said in a statement.

“I hope others will
join us in supporting the scholarship fund, not only to honor him, but to offer
educational opportunities for members of our industry.”
