Thos. Moser Cabinetmakers announced that founder and master craftsman Tom Moser's book, "How to Build Shaker Furniture," was re-released in a revised and updated edition.

The book, originally published in 1977, was one of the first books for woodworkers that offered plans for building any type of furniture.

“For many woodworkers, Tom Moser’s book was an introduction and inspiration into the world of woodworking and into the world of Shaker furniture,” said David Thiel, executive editor at FW Media, in a statement. “When we learned that we had the opportunity to work with Tom to update his classic, we recognized it as a rare chance to continue that inspiration. Tom is one of the rock stars of woodworking and we’re delighted to partner with him on this project.”

Updates to the original include new color photography for most of the 36 pieces featured; a new chapter and photography on the tools that are used today; nine new pieces of Moser furniture; a current foreword to the original introduction, in which Moser discusses how far the company has come since the book was first published in 1977; anecdotes and updated notes from author Moser and new shop drawings.

“I am excited for the chance to share my enthusiasm for the principles of Shaker artistry and to provide the next generation of readers with new information and images,” said Tom Moser. “I hope that the material in the book will inspire anyone who has thought about building furniture, as well as be of interest to those who would like to know more about the unique Shaker style.”

The 176-page softcover sells for $24.99. It is available for pre-order at www.amazon.com.
