‘Guild Build’ for Woodworkers Fighting Cancer, an online woodworking community led by Marc Spagnuolo, is holding a Woodworkers Fighting Cancer "Guild Build" event to support the American Cancer Society.

In March, more than 100 site participants will build a Shaker end table. Spagnuolo will donate $5 to the American Cancer Society for every completed table.

"This isn't just about woodworking as a job or hobby, it's about woodworking as a lifestyle and woodworking as a community," Spagnuolo says in a press release. "I want people to be inspired by what our woodworking community is doing and perhaps even contribute to the cause themselves."

The event also honors Duane Moore, a woodworker battling prostate cancer.

To date, the Web site has raised more than $2,800 in individual donations. Matching corporate sponsors include Festool, Rockler, American Eagle, Lie-Nielsen Toolworks, WoodWerks Supply, Laguna Tools, Bell Forest Products and Micro-Jig.
