DeWalt says its DC9310 battery charger system and all battery packs that are compatible with it, including the company's 7.2- to 18-volt nickel cadmium (Ni-Cd), nickel metal hydride (Ni-MH) and lithium-ion (Li-Ion) batteries, have received the nationally recognized Energy Star rating.

Energy Star is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy that helps consumers save money and protect the environment through energy-efficient products and practices.

With the Energy Star certification, professional end users can expect the DC9310 to use less energy than comparable non-qualified systems when left plugged in after a battery has been charged and after a battery has been removed, according to DeWalt.
