Nothing to hide
Social media has been at the forefront of the news lately, largely due to the negative press given to the abuse of a user’s private data.

Actually, the idea of “private data” on the internet is a myth. There is no way to keep your information private. Anything you post on an internet site can be accessed by anyone with a basic understanding of how the web works.
But this can have an upside for those who want to promote their work or business. There are many things that we would like everyone to see. We want as many people as possible to be aware of what we do. There is always the possibility that one of them will turn into a customer.
Of course, we also leave ourselves open to the bogus scam offers and orders that appear in our email inbox. Some prince in Mumbai who wants to order 20 million of whatever it is we make, name your price.
But social media is a good way to get visibility for our business without having to spend a lot of time or invest in an expensive advertising campaign that can never reach as many people as a single Instagram post. I figure, if there is nothing to hide, there is not too much to worry about as far as others seeing my information.
Needless to say, don’t publish your bank account number.
