Don't skimp

Insurance is like the cops. No one wants them around until the moment they need them.

No one likes spending money on insurance. Every month, out go the checks and all the while we are hoping to never need what we are buying.

We can save a lot of dough if we buy the lowest cost insurance. We can tell ourselves that this is wise because we are never going to need it. But on the unfortunate day we do, we want someone there. We don't want to sit on hold for interminable lengths of time, only to end up talking to some guy in India who tells us that "unfortunately that isn't covered."

This is one area where the old saying about getting what you pay for is front and center.
