"I think the professional is going to better appreciate the features of the RAS900, which has the quick-clamp router mounting system," says Art Stankiewicz, marketing manager for Skil Accessories. "The router simply snaps into the base plate."

The RAS900 offers a 26" x 16-1/2" table surface and accepts bits up to 2-1/2" in circumference. The smaller RAS800 has a 24" x 14" table and accepts bits up to 1-5/8" in circumference. The legs on both tables fold underneath for easier storage and transport.

The RAS900 features a tall fence with adjustable laminated MDF faces; dual featherboards to help guide work pieces more accurately; a starter pin and guard for support when routing curved work pieces; a bit-height gauge for easier bit setup and cutting precision; and additional accessory storage compartments, according to Stankiewicz.

The RAS800 is designed for lighter-duty tasks. "The RAS800 is more suited for someone who has a router, but just wants to get a little more use out of that router as opposed to just doing freehand routing. It helps in terms of being able to make repeat cuts accurately," says Stankiewicz.

Available at Lowe's, the Skil RAS800 sells for $99.97, while the RAS900 goes for $150. Both come with a miter gauge, bit guard and dust port. Most router brands are compatible with the tables.
