STACKABLE CLAMPS, from R&R Clamp, are helpful to those who have difficulty finding enough space to work on projects. Clamps are simply stacked upon each other to free up space. The clamps tighten and loosen quickly with the use of a cordless drill. The 2' stackable clamp sells for $195; with 3' and 4' kits now available. The wood base is not included. THE HOT DAWG, from Modine Mfg., is a low-profile gas-fired unit heater designed to heat garages. It is certified for residential, commercial and industrial use, according to the company. The Hot Dawg unit heaters can either draw air from outside (separated-combustion model HDS) or from within the space being heated (power-exhausted model HD). They operate on either natural or propane gas, and can be vented either horizontally through the wall or vertically through the roof. Several models are available, producing 30,000 to 75,000 BTU/hr. LUMBER THICKNESS GAUGE, from Lee Valley, measures thickness from 3/8" to 2" (in 1/8" increments under 1" and 1/4" increments over 1"). The stainless steel tool comes in handy when scouting lumberyards or trolling in the off-cut bin. The 3-1/4" long gauge has a sleek, thin design that slips easily into a pocket or attaches to key ring. The gauge is based on common lumberyard promotional giveaways from the 1950s.
