The goal of KCD Software's new cabinet design program, Version 9 Custom Library Creator, is to boost productivity while simplifying the design process. The product allows designers in traditional or CNC production to create and save a personal library of custom cabinet and closet units with a click of the mouse. It is ideal for independent shops, as well as for companies with their own franchises that want to create their own unique menus.

"Why reinvent the wheel every time you create a design? With this, you can just take a design that you know works, looks nice and would fit your particular situation, and you have it there at your fingertips," says KCD's Ken Frye.
For example, on units with elaborate configurations, such as complex entertainment centers and kitchen islands, custom designs can easily be dropped in and modified for changes. In addition to saving time and ensuring accuracy, this gives designers the ability to impress clients by showing them exactly what is going to be built.
The new software also includes a countertop edge profiler with ready-to-use countertop edges, plus the ability to create custom profiles. The 3-D express viewing option has been enhanced for faster mouse action.
The cost of the product depends on a shop's needs. A cabinet and closet rental version is available for as little as $95 a month. The product can be purchased as a complete package or in a number of configurations based on the customer's needs for pricing, parts or cut lists, and CNC options.
