The new ELaser Xpress 3D measuring system from ETemplate is a designer’s dream, according to the company.

“The system measures 3-D data and creates either a 2-D or 3-D CAD drawing/model, depending on the application,” company president Paul Hansen says. “The measurements go directly into the company’s software called Measure Manager. It’s a system that allows the user to measure the space the way they would design it.”

With the system, a designer can draw a floor plan and give it height in a 3-D space and then add features such as doors, windows, switches, outlets, plumbing and more. Other applications include stairs and railings, soffits, arches, shower enclosures, tub surrounds and fireplaces.

“It’s a measuring tool, so it doesn’t care what it’s measuring for. If you have a built-in, you can measure the exact space that it’s got to fit into. In other words, it can tell you how level the floor is, how level the ceiling is, how plumb a wall is or the scribe of a wall if it’s moving in and out,” Hansen says.

The system includes ETemplate’s Measure Manager 3D software, Xpress 3D laser head, tripod, training and support. It sells for less than $10,000.
