It seems like every woodworker now has a YouTube channel, which has me a little worried.

Their how-to videos can be a great resource on a variety of topics. But I’ve seen some horrifically unsafe practices presented, sometimes in a surprisingly professional manner.

There’s one video of a guy forming a tenon by sliding a board under the blade of a chop saw. His fingers are dangerously close to the blade, while the other hand is trying to keep the blade depth consistent. Scary stuff!

We are advised not to believe everything we read. We should also be advised not to accept something at face value simply because we saw it on YouTube.

Be safe.
