Many times, I have heard people say how much they love woodworking. Some were thinking of starting a woodworking business so that they could make a living doing what they love.

Many times, I have heard people say how much they love woodworking. Some were thinking of starting a woodworking business so that they could make a living doing what they love.

But if they ever get into a real woodworking environment, they soon realize why “working” is the biggest part of woodworking. It really is a lot of work!

I would suggest that anyone with this idea think about it for just a minute. If you want to go into business, you better love working more than you love woodworking. And you better love being in business because running a shop is a far cry from being a hobbyist.

And here’s another secret: Many of us who start a woodworking business rarely get to do any woodworking since we have to spend our time running the business.
