I just finished a project that I have been working on for almost six months. Not for profit, but as a labor of love.
The project competed with my time as I also tried to earn a living. It could have been completed sooner, given the luxury of an all-out effort, but having it on the bench for so long just made finishing it that much sweeter.
Those who are not makers may never experience the satisfaction we get from completing a project. While I have always enjoyed the process of making more than the end result, there is no escaping the feeling of accomplishment. Sometimes it only lasts until the next project begins, but for that brief moment there is a connection with the joy of making that reminds us why we are makers in the first place.
