WMMA elects new president

The Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America, the national trade association for those who make machinery, cutting tools and supplies for the woodworking industry, announced the election of Jamison Scott as its new president.

The announcement was made at the Woodworking Industry Conference in Puerto Rico.

Scott serves as executive vice president of Air Handling Systems, a third-generation family-owned business in Woodbridge, Conn.

He was instrumental in creating an online presence for his company as early as 1995, establishing Air Handling as one of the first companies in the industry to engage in e-commerce. He is also a fierce advocate for the Connecticut industry, working on the Manufacturing Reinvestment Account, a federal bill he helped create, which resembles an IRA for manufacturers, according to the WMMA.

Scott has presented several combustible dust seminars and regularly acts as a technical resource. He has authored several combustible dust articles for national and international trade publications, including Woodshop News.

“Jamie Scott is going to make an excellent leader for this association,” outgoing WMMA president John Schultz said in a statement. “He has served WMMA and the industry at large on numerous levels and is well-prepared for the challenges of this position.”
