Kerfkore expanded its line of Balsakore bendable panel products, made from plantation-grown balsa trees.

“The balsa tree is an exceptionally fast growing species that is plantation-grown in Ecuador where within seven to 10 years obtain heights of 60 to 80 feet and diameters of 12 to 30 inches,” the company said in a statement. “This exceptional fast-growing tree creates a very lightweight wood that is often considered the strongest wood for its weight in the world. The lightweight balsa wood when used in end-grain configuration provides an exceptionally strong yet extremely light core material.

“Kerfkore uses this end-grain construction to provide a core material that is five times lighter than traditional composite board products and up to three times lighter that most plywood products. It is a FSC-certified material and contains no added formaldehyde that will provide many benefits to your customer.
