Wood-Mizer recently introduced the model MP160, a two-in-one jointer/planer, to complement the company’s flagship stationary and portable sawmill products.
“The MP160 jointer/planer is a durable, versatile, and efficient machine that produces the same professional results of a jointer and planer in one compact footprint,” says Wood-Mizer CEO John Smith.
“One standout feature is the simplicity of switching between jointing and planning, by moving the board from the upper jointer table to the bottom planer table seamlessly, without needing to adjust the table or stop the cutter or extractor.”
The machine features a 240-volt motor, available for single or three-phase power. It has a 9”-wide jointing capacity and can plane stock up to 16” wide and 9-1/2” high. The planer runs at a standard 16 fpm and there’s a variable speed option (6 to 39 fpm), according to Woods-Mizer.
“One horizontal cutter is shared between two heavy-duty cast iron tables to produce straight-edged boards with the top jointer table and evenly planed boards with the bottom planer table. When jointing boards on the upper table, an adjustable board fence tilts up to 45 degrees and locks into place for angled boards,” the company said in a statement.
The MP160 has a footprint of 56” x 32” and starts at $4,495.
