National Woods Board Collaborates with Next Step of West Michigan

The National Woods Board (NWB), whose mission is to replicate and proliferate the successful model implemented by the Manufacturing Industry Learning Lab (The MiLL) in Colorado Springs, Colo., on a national level, says it was pleased to participate in recent open house at Next Step of West Michigan.

“Next Step, a social enterprise non-profit, hosted the event to celebrate the inauguration of their new space for the wood product manufacturing education program,” the NWB explained in a statement.

“Next Step is dedicated to providing job skills training and employment opportunities to community members who have been marginalized, yet are determined to forge a brighter future. This initiative resonates deeply with NWB's mission to empower individuals and communities through woodworking education and vocational training.

“In collaboration with Kent ISD, the school district for Kent County, Michigan, Next Step is participating in a piloting program for the NWB curriculum, slated to commence this fall. Through this innovative partnership, local students will benefit from enhanced educational opportunities and practical skills development in woodworking.”
