NWFA inducts South Lynn
The National Wood Flooring Association has inducted South Lynn of Universal Floors into its Legacy Scholarship program through the NWFA Education and Research Foundation.
The NERF Legacy Scholarship program honors individuals who made significant contributions throughout their lives to advance the wood flooring industry.
“South Lynn started his wood flooring career in 1952 working for Suburban Floors. After just nine months, he set out on his own starting his own company, Universal Floors, in 1953,” the NWFA said in a statement. “Universal Floors quickly earned a reputation for high-quality work, installing and finishing floors in the White House during every administration from Eisenhower to the present. In 2001, he received the NWFA Industry Leadership Award.”
The REHAU Group recently announced it is selling its business in Russia to the local management and will withdraw completely from the country.
“REHAU had already announced on March 4, 2022, to ramp down its business in Russia in a controlled manner. The development of the past weeks has made further decisions unavoidable,” the company said.
“The REHAU Group has been active in Russia for around 30 years and has served the market there primarily with polymer-based solutions for the window, construction and furniture sectors.”
Charles G. G. Schmidt & Co. has acquired Esta-USA and Dispozablade products and is now the exclusive distributor of these products throughout North America.
“Manufactured in Germany, these precision tools are just what the doctor ordered when it comes to insert style planer and jointer knives,” the company said in an announcement.

Daniela Vlad has been appointed Managing Director of AkzoNobel Industrial Coatings and will lead the strategic direction across a diverse product portfolio, including Coil and Extrusion Coatings, Packaging Coatings, Wood Finishes, and Wood Adhesives.
“She brings a wealth of experience and expertise, having joined AkzoNobel from Philips in 2019,” the company said. “Since then, she’s held a variety of key leadership positions within our coatings businesses, having previously led our Automotive (OEM) and Aerospave activities.”
The Hettich Group has received a 2022 Premier Award from Steelcase, a multi-national manufacturer of office furnishings and spatial solutions based in Grand Rapids, Mich.
The company’s award acknowledges exceptional performance and outstanding commitment on the part of its suppliers.
The Hettich Group, a hardware manufacturer, supplies Steelcase’s European production plants in the Czech Republic and Spain.
