Continuing the thought, there are times when we have a good design and are working to manifest it when the gremlins strike and something happens to essentially ruin the work.
These moments can be the most frustrating aspect of creative work. All of the effort that has gone into the piece seems to go up in smoke in an instant.
It's only later when we are trying to figure out some way to fix it and salvage the material and effort already invested that sudden inspiration we call a "design opportunity" strikes. We call it that because there is no other good way to spin the fact that we screwed up.
If we are lucky, we come up with a solution that does not look like a solution, convincing enough to convey the idea that this is exactly the way we planned it.
