DeWalt introduced a 200-psi trim compressor that weighs 36 lbs., runs at about 72 decibels and is 14” wide, according to the company.
“We typically see trim guys using this for base, case and crown molding, but when we think about our custom woodworkers, we think about built-ins, shelves, cabinet areas and closets,” product manager James Vintzel says. “Often there are not a lot of nails that need to be installed in one of those applications, but the portability aspects of this unit will come into play either when you’re going from room to room or site to site.”
“The compressor is built in such a way that it can be either stored or operated horizontally or vertically. I think that’s sort of new. So what the vertical position allows you to do is carry it vertically closer to your body and also offers a higher pickup point so you don’t have to bend down as far.”
The compressor features a 2.5-gallon tank and a 12-amp motor, while an oil-free pump provides maintenance-free operation, according to the company.
The trim compressor, model DWFP5530, sells for $249.
