“The machines handle high airflow and heavy particulates, but take up less space than a traditional baghouse collector,” says product manager Kristine Graham. “The filter change-out process is also easy, quick and clean, compared to traditional filter bags.”
The Torit PowerCore collectors are available as stand-alone models that can be ducted to many different applications and bin vent models. The CPC6 stand-alone model is best suited for a shop with roughly five employees, according to the company. It can handle the dust collection needs of three machines, such as a table saw, planer and belt sander, simultaneously.
The PowerCore filter packs are significantly smaller than traditional filters, and fewer are required. At just 7” tall, one PowerCore filter pack replaces six traditional 8’ long fabric filter packs. They can be replaced in minutes from the clean side of the collector in a tool-less operation, according to the company.
The filter packs combine Donaldson Torit’s patented Ultra-Web surface-loading technology with a fluted-media design that allows more media in a small volume.
“The rugged fluted structure of the PowerCore filter pack extends filter life and eliminates bridging problems common for manufacturers using traditional baghouse technology on wood, fiberglass, plastic and other stringy and agglomerative materials,” according to a company press release. “Unlike traditional filter bags that move when they are pulse-cleaned or shaken, accelerating bag fatigue and wear, the PowerCore filter packs are stationary, which prolongs filter life.
“Torit PowerCore also departs from the traditional baghouse airflow pattern that directs the incoming dirty air between the long hanging filter bags, which often leads to bridging on lightweight and/or fibrous materials. Torit PowerCore is engineered to direct the dirty air straight into the bottom of the PowerCore filter pack, thereby eliminating bridging.”
Model CPC6 has six filter packs and can handle airflows in the range of 2,400 to 3,000 cfm, according to the company. It weighs 1,300 lbs. and measures 44-1/2" wide x 142" tall x 65" deep. The base price is $9,376.
