Minwax honors guild

Rockler meets tree-planting goal

56_oowRockler Woodworking and Hardware celebrated Earth Day by partnering with the Hardwood Forestry Fund in a donation-based tree planting program. The goal was to plant 20,000 new trees and, according to Rockler vice president of marketing Scott Ekman, it was a mission accomplished.

Carving part of nature

64_oow_1Jim Maas, a retired orthopedic surgeon from Newport, Vt., began dabbling in bird carving 10 years ago when he realized his calling as an artist. He was originally just looking for a relaxing hobby and found that he could use his hand-eye coordination to his advantage and carry through with the most difficult design dimensions. Birds, he says, are simply fascinating to him.
