Attendance increases at World of Wood

The International Wood Products Association reports attendance increased 9 percent at this year’s World of Wood convention in San Francisco.

The convention covered social media business strategies and global currency trends and provided updates on Lacey Act compliance, the Chinese plywood dumping petition, complying with rosewood CITES requirements, and formaldehyde regulations from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Resources Board.

The IWPA also elected a new president during the convention as JoAnn Gillebaard Keller of Holland Southwest International succeeds Bronson Newburger of Clarke Veneers and Plywood.

“I am honored to be the next president of IWPA and plan to continue our membership growth, build on our successful due diligence training program, provide resources to members as they tackle the political landscape, and reach out to organizations so that we can all ensure the sustainability and health of the forests worldwide. We have a lot ahead of us, and I am ready to get started,” Keller said in a statement.

The 2018 World of Wood is scheduled for March 14-16 at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans.
