Friday, 03 October 2008 20:57The Association of Woodworking and Furnishings Suppliers has awarded 27 students a total of $82,000 for the 2008-2009 academic year. The AWFS scholarship committee gave out more scholarships this year than it has in the history of the program. In the General Industry category, $40,000 of the total went to students pursuing degrees or certificates in industry-related programs, such as fine woodworking, wood science, furniture studies and technology education.
Tuesday, 30 September 2008 20:26Show officials from IWF 2008, held Aug. 20-23 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, say that although attendance decreased compared to the prior show in 2006, the numbers did not reflect a significant drop in serious show patrons. The consensus was that attendee buyer interest surpassed what would be expected in a tough economic environment.
