Baltimore show see sales on the upswing

The Baltimore Fine Furnishings & Fine Crafts Show had its second appearance at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center/Hippodrome Theater on the weekend of May 1-2. Exhibitors say their success had nothing to do with luck and everything to do with strategic marketing.

Exhibitors buoyed by Philadelphia show

14_exhibitors_01The 16th annual Philadelphia Invitational Furniture Show experienced a vibrant turnout, with numbers slightly up from last year. The show took place March 26-27 at the Cruise Ship Terminal in the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Many exhibitors reported that their sales expectations were met or exceeded and they plan to return next year.

Groups feel new EPA lead paint rule will be costly

Associations for the renovation and remodeling industries are speaking out about a recent change in the rules governing lead paint, requiring anyone who works on a pre-1978 house to be certified. In April, the Environmental Protection Agency removed the "opt-out" provision from the 2008 Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule, an update which becomes effective 60 days after its announcement.
