Belt sander race set for AWFS

beltsanderRacers from across the country are preparing for full-throttle fun at the 2011 national Belt Sander Races set for July 21 at the AWFS fair in Las Vegas.

Coordinated by the Belt Sander Racing Association, Accuride International and the AWFS fair committee, the event will take place at 4:30 p.m. (PST) in the Las Vegas Convention Center's central hall at Booth No. 10300.

Competitors will vie for awards on a 75-foot wooden track complete with Christmas-tree starting signals. Accuride will present first-, second- and third-place awards, as well as a special judge's award and recognition for the best design theme.

"The competition is bound to be fierce, which makes the event a lot of fun. So pack your speediest track-burning sander and come get in on the action," said Jamie Goodwin, association president and Accuride regional sales manager, in a release. "There's a limit to the number of racers, so be sure to reserve your spot at the starting line right away."

Häfele America Co. will be there racing in both the stock and the modified class. We did well in 2007 but over-engineering got the best of us in 2009. We hope to be back lean and mean in Vegas in 2011!
