A one-day class in the fundamentals of furnituremaking, using time-honored joinery, taught in a supportive shop environment with a maximum of 10 women.
-Learn to use traditional woodworking hand tools; chisels, dovetail saws and drills.
-Make mortise and tenon joinery with foxtail wedges.
-Learn furniture engineering fundamentals and wood biology.
Debey Zito, a professional furniture maker who has who has been designing, building and teaching furniture making for over 35 years, teaches the class.
The class is Saturday May 16th from 9:30 to 5pm. Class fee is $125-. All tools and materials are supplied.
Upon completion, a Tuesday night on-going class is available with the first project being a bench. Some students have been in class for less than a year and others who have been woodworking here for over ten years. It is a very comfortable and intimate shop setting.
