Workshop
Description
Participants discover new ways to advance their turning skills. Either working from sketches or designing directly on the lathe, students make everything from bowls and vessels to spoons and sculptural forms out of green and kiln-dried wood. Mark encourages students to use the turned form as a starting point for exploring the creative possibilities of surface embellishment. His instruction emphasizes proper use of the bowl gouge, as well as sharpening and use of different turning and carving tools. He also covers hollow forms, multi-axis turning, and the use of dyes and paints, among other techniques. Tuition: $650
