The Messler Gallery, located on the campus of the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine, is currently hosting Maine Wood 2016 through April 6. The juried biennial exhibition, which opened Jan. 22, showcases the breadth and creativity of Maine’s woodworking community.

The New England Fine Furnishings Show recently completed its 20th year. Held Nov. 6-8 at the Pawtucket Armory Arts Center in Pawtucket, R.I., the annual show features fine furniture makers and other professional craftspeople from throughout the New England region and beyond.

In concert with its contemporary craft focus, Racine Art Museum in Wisconsin is the first museum to host “Urban Wood Encounter: RAM Explores Contemporary Furniture”, an environmentally conscious exhibition of fine furniture. The exhibit, which opened in September and will run through Jan. 3, 2016, offers a collection of furniture and objects made by regional artists who apply their individual creativity and personal interests to wood that is often discarded.

The 23rd annual Western Design Conference in Jackson, Wyo., drew more than 130 artisans from 22 states. The four-day juried exhibit and sale was held Sept. 10-13 at the Snow King Center.
