Students take the stage at Messler Gallery

“Current Student Work” was featured from April 13 through May 30 at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship’s Messler Gallery in Rockport, Maine. The annual exhibit showcased furniture and decorative objects created by participants in the school’s nine-month program. For many of the students, this was their first opportunity to see their work in a public setting.

Bart Niswonger’s latest exhibit, “Furniture: Carved and Cast,” featuring modern furniture pieces by this contemporary artist, was on display March 30 to April 28 at Gallery Naga in Boston.

Duncan Phyfe is showcased at the Met

The Metropolitan Museum of Art will host the exhibition, “Duncan Phyfe: Master Cabinetmaker in New York,” through May 6. Organized chronologically, the exhibition will present the life and work of the early 19th century New York City cabinetmaker Duncan Phyfe through drawings, documents, personal possessions and furniture. Portraits of his clients and contemporary depictions of New York City street scenes and domestic interiors will provide a glimpse into Phyfe’s milieu.
